President/ CEO/CFO
BQE is a brainchild of Rev. Dr. McArthur Britt Sr. As founder of this non-profit organization Dr. Britt brings much of the experience and success needed to create a great environment for achievement at BQE, Inc. Along with his honesty, be prepared, hard work ethics of life; he brings a myriad of professional and educational sagacity. Webster's defines prepare as: " to make ready or procure as suitable," so after initial preparation through a successful high school career, Dr. Britt served in Viet Nam as a decorated soldier, and honorably discharged veteran, which was another stepping stone for being prepared. After settling in Washington DC, Dr. Britt embarked on a very successful 32 year career as a public transportation Rail Station Manager, for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from Sept. 1972 - Nov. 2004.
Along with being a successful parent with a productive career, education became a primary goal. In 1982 Dr. Britt received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Prince George Community College. In 2012 he received his Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters, and Certificate of Ordination from Mid Atlantic Christian University. Dr. Britt has notable certification from the Tax School of New York, H&R Block and The United Claims Adjuster School, which helps him run Britt Tax Services LLC, a lucrative, full service tax business, from 1969 - to present. Dr. Britt is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, The National Notary Association, The American Legion, and NAACP. He is also a member of Doric Lodge # 19, F&A.M., P.H.A. of Washington DC.
Vice President
Vice President Michael Antonio Britt was born October 7, 1960 in Suffolk, Va. He attended Suffolk High School, where he became a legend on the basketball court After graduating high school in 1979, the 6'7" legend played his college ball at University of The District Of Columbia where he scored a record 52 points in one game against Southeastern University in the 1979-1980 season. In 1982 Mike played in the NCAA Div. II Basketball Tournament, and was voted MVP for the Firebirbs of UDC. He also played on the 1982 Olympic Basketball team helping to win the Gold for the US.
In 1983 Mike was drafted by the Washington Bullets, his pro career started there and took him to the International Basketball Association where he had a flawless ten year career. In 2012 Mike Britt was inducted into the Inaugural Sports Hall of Fame at UDC, and also awarded the Legendary Dunker Award by the NDAA. On December 13, 2010 Mike entered into the Ministry and is still active and playing strong for the Lord.
Second Vice President
Second Vice President - Charles E. Hicks hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1965. He went on to Langston University, Langston Oklahoma receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1969. After migrating to the Washington DC area Charles had a lucrative career with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority where he went from Bus Operator, Rail Station Manager, and Rail Train Operator to President, CEO, Business Agent and Trustee for a 10,000 member transportation union; negotiating the richest high stakes contract in the history of Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 689. His various experiences from counseling, teaching and child development to musical arts adds a valuable dimension to the BQE arsenal. After thirty plus years of exemplary service Charles retired from the Transit Authority and the Union, bringing BQE valuable expertise through his education and experience.
Executive Secretary
Executive Secretary - Karon D. Curtis brings a lot to the table for BQE, when you think of research, coordination, analysis and management, you automatically think of Karon. After graduating from Bayonne High School, Bayonne NJ in 1987, she entered Jersey City State College, Jersey City NJ, where she graduated in 1992 as an honor student with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management.
Karon has had an exemplary military career in active and civilian status where she exceled as a Mobilization Planning Specialist. As a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Karon is an active member of the Scholarship Ministry, Children's Ministry, Outreach Ministry and the Beautification Ministry. She is also a member of The Future Business Leaders of America since 1987.
Treasurer
Treasurer - Barbara L. McCain brings even more skill and expertise to our team. The Washington, DC native has a very successful military/civilian career that spans nearly three decades, as a Navy veteran with 4 years active duty and 22 years service in the U.S. Naval Reserves plus a 23 year civilian career with the Department of Defense, Chief Information Office. Specializing in Telecommunications has elevated Barbara to team leading success here and abroad in Information Technology Service and Management. Along with her formidable career Barbara forged her way to a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Management & Information Science; from the University of Maryland University College in 2006 while retiring from the Naval Reserves simultaneously.
Over the years a tireless work ethic has also produced much fruit for the advancement of her faith in God. After joining Rehoboth Baptist Church, a few years later Barbara became Financial Secretary/Trustee in1995 and holds these positions to today. These jobs span from keeping records of individual offerings and mailing yearly statements to, being a custodian of all church property and legal documents; the nuts and bolts work that assures progress and longevity of any viable church. Being a successful parent, grandparent, and educator of church and service oriented youth helps forms the total package for Barbara and we are blessed to have her brilliance on the BQE team.
